GridIQ privacy
Privacy Statement
Last updated 20 June 2026
This Privacy Statement explains how GridIQ collects, uses, discloses and protects personal information when you visit the GridIQ public website, use the GridIQ platform, contact us, or connect household energy services to GridIQ.
Who this statement covers
GridIQ operates the GridIQ website, platform and related support channels. In this statement, "personal information" means information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can reasonably be linked with an individual or household. Household energy information may also reveal patterns about how a home is used, so we handle it as protected account information even when it is technical or device-level data.
Information we collect
The information we collect depends on how you use GridIQ and which integrations you choose to connect. It may include:
- Account and contact details, such as name, email address, login identifiers, subscription status and support messages.
- Household setup details, such as address or region, tariff type, retailer details, network area, solar system, battery, inverter, EV charger, vehicle and connected device configuration.
- Energy and device data, such as import, export, generation, consumption, state of charge, charging sessions, operating limits, device status, automation settings and historical usage.
- Market, tariff and forecast inputs, such as pricing signals, export rates, weather forecasts and grid context used to build planning recommendations.
- Website, platform and diagnostics data, such as IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, approximate location, log events, crash reports and security records.
- Payment and billing records handled by our payment provider, such as plan, invoice, transaction and tax information. We do not store full card numbers unless a payment provider makes that available to us under its secure controls.
How we collect information
We collect information directly from you, through your use of the website and platform, from the integrations you authorise, and from service providers that help operate GridIQ. Connected energy accounts and devices are user-controlled. If you disconnect an integration, GridIQ will stop collecting new information from that integration, subject to normal processing, security logs, backups and legal retention requirements.
How we use information
GridIQ uses personal information for the purposes for which it was collected and for closely related purposes you would reasonably expect, including to:
- Create, secure and administer your GridIQ account.
- Connect authorised household energy services and display the Energy Map, history, device state and planning views.
- Build household energy profiles and generate Energy Intelligence, EV charging, battery, solar, tariff and grid-timing recommendations.
- Run automations or send instructions to connected services when you enable those features.
- Provide support, respond to enquiries, manage billing, send service notices and communicate important product changes.
- Maintain reliability, detect misuse, troubleshoot integrations, prevent fraud and protect GridIQ, users and connected systems.
- Improve GridIQ features, models, forecasts and user experience using aggregated, de-identified or account-level operational data where appropriate.
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce terms and respond to lawful requests from regulators, courts or authorities.
AI planning and automated features
GridIQ may use software models and AI-assisted systems to analyse household energy data and generate planning outputs. These outputs are intended to help households understand and manage energy timing; they are not used by GridIQ to make credit, insurance, employment or legal eligibility decisions about you. You remain in control of whether to enable integrations and automation features, and you should review device, retailer and safety settings that apply to your home.
When we disclose information
We do not sell personal information or household energy data. We may disclose information only where needed to operate GridIQ, where you direct us to do so, or where legally required, including to:
- Hosting, database, analytics, security, communications, customer support and infrastructure providers.
- Payment processors, tax, accounting and subscription-management providers.
- Energy retailers, network services, inverter, battery, EV charger, solar, smart-meter or other integration providers that you choose to connect.
- Professional advisers, insurers, auditors, investors or business transaction counterparties under appropriate confidentiality arrangements.
- Regulators, courts, law enforcement or other parties where disclosure is required or permitted by law, or needed to protect rights, safety, security or service integrity.
Cookies and similar technologies
The GridIQ website and platform may use cookies, local storage, pixels and similar technologies for essential site operation, login sessions, security, preferences, diagnostics, analytics and product improvement. Where required, GridIQ will provide consent or preference controls for non-essential cookies. You can also use browser settings to block or delete cookies, although some platform features may not work correctly without essential cookies.
Security
GridIQ uses administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These safeguards may include access controls, encryption in transit, secure integration tokens, logging, monitoring, least-privilege permissions and vendor review. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so users should also protect their account credentials and connected service access.
Retention
We keep personal information for as long as reasonably needed to provide GridIQ, maintain account and billing records, improve reliability, resolve disputes, enforce agreements and comply with legal obligations. Retention periods vary by data type. For example, active account and energy history may be retained while an account is active; support, billing and security records may be retained for longer; backups and logs are deleted or de-identified on normal lifecycle schedules. We will delete, de-identify or archive information when it is no longer reasonably required, unless we must retain it by law.
International processing
GridIQ and its service providers may store or process information in Australia, the United States and other countries where our infrastructure or vendors operate. Where personal information is disclosed overseas, GridIQ takes reasonable steps designed to ensure appropriate handling, including using contractual, security and vendor-management controls where practicable.
Your choices and rights
You can choose which integrations to connect, update account details, unsubscribe from marketing where offered, and request access to, correction of, deletion of, or portability of personal information. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to object to or restrict certain processing, appeal a denied request, or opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising. GridIQ does not currently sell personal information or share household energy data for cross-context behavioural advertising. To make a privacy request, contact hello@gridiqenergy.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Complaints
If you believe GridIQ has mishandled personal information, contact hello@gridiqenergy.com with enough detail for us to investigate. We will assess the issue and respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response and Australian privacy law applies, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Children
GridIQ is designed for household energy account holders and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or a higher age where local law requires parental consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information to GridIQ, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
Changes to this statement
We may update this Privacy Statement as GridIQ, integrations, vendors or legal requirements change. The latest version will be posted on this page with the date it was last updated. Material changes may also be notified through the platform, email or another reasonable channel.
Privacy questions and requests can be sent to hello@gridiqenergy.com.
